Posts: 880 Location: New Berlin,Wisconsin,53151 | 4 days left and all you boys who didn't take the trip South it "ROCKING TIME"!!! Southern opener is Saturday, the BS will be flying at SMOKIES on Friday night and the challenge is set with weather in the 60's and partly sunny. My question is are you ready for it? I feel like a kid at X-mas with a list a mile long. I told myself that I didn't need 4 rods and so many baits, but the tackle box is full and the boat is stuffed. What do you throw 1st? Small bait or large meal? Do I need a locator with side finder ability? Does it even need to be turned on? Is a kicker needed for opening weekend? I can't troll it's opening weekend!!! Can this year be the chance at your PB? Is there a 50"r in the net this year? This has to be the best time of the year............ I'll see you all on Friday Night at the Bait Store and yes I did smoke 30lbs of salmon. Netman

Posts: 3867 | Just opened hereabouts. Out twice with no action except some decent bass, but hit the big Q-beam on the way back to the landing and saw a few dinks plus a beast of a walleye. If it is useful, the bait that got the most action (bass) was a big Johnson Spoon, painted black with orange spots, with a dark purple twister tail, at dusk and for an hour or two after sundown. No action on gliders, suicks, small bucktails, medium bucktails, Raddog spinnerbaits, large Rapala RistoRaps, 6" jakes, 7.5" grannies, Topraiders, and jig/creatures. Don't think anyone else moved fish either.

Posts: 3240 Location: Racine, Wi | I'm not eating anything Netman brought. It's probably a carp he snagged last night, threw it on a stick, then smoked it over a pile of wet leaves. heh heh heh I'm taking off of work early to make sure I hit Milwaukee rush hour and miss Chicagos. Man, this commuting to work south of the border bites. I will have in tow with me, 2 jars of baby food, one bottle of baby drinking stuff, one stroller, one baby to consume said food, and one tall skinny dude that needs to shave. Then I shall retire early so I can be prepared to talk trash all day tomorrow while I'm fishing the Wisconsin River instead of SE Wisconsin. LOL

Tuffy, Your getting the scraps of the pan or the crumbs of the crackers when the nights is over. Actually carp isn't that bad if its smoked right, or pickeled. Not that I make it a everyday dish. But I have tried it. And with all the money you make don't you have a Nanny for that kid? Bruce

Posts: 2865 Location: Brookfield, WI | Just making a pit stop at home. Been at Smokey's since 5:30. Slowly it turns. 72lbs. of pork shoulder has now been exposed to the gentle flavorings of smoke for going on four hours. Only eight or so more to go. The 12 chickens go in later. Kevin Today's the day.

Posts: 956 Location: Home of the 2016 World Series Champion Cubs | Dont forget the "FEATS of STRENGTH", aka fighting fish to the net and hoisting ol' girl into the boat forn some CPR. New job assignment has got me pinned down more than ever in my 17 year career. Jealousy is already running rampant. The "P" vs "O" challange and tailgate, BBQ, party, and assorted lines of BS, joking and commaraderie have my mouth watering. i'll have to live vicariously through the you guys. I hope you guys have a great opener and sample some salmon for me please, Habanero please. Wait lemon pepper. No traditional AAARRRGHH!!!!! See what I mean. But be sure to wash it down with some ice cold Linnies Honey Weiss. Make that Linnies Red. AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! Just post some pics. FISH, FOOD, FUN. Be Safe, Karl
