Has anyone bought any of these off Rollie&Helen? How thick is the flashabou and are they tied on a coil?

Posts: 288 Location: Montreal, Que. Canada | I bought black and lets just say that it's not as thick or full as a D. Cowgirl's skirt but I'm sure that's not going to stop da big stinky musky from making a mess of them! David

Posts: 663 | Wow what a great idea Luke. Call the place and ask??? How novel. Just kidding. I guess it's hard to define thickness on this stuff. I would say it's probably pretty close to what you would find on the Showgirls. Yes, it is on a coil and it's secured by a zip tie. I've tried a couple and it seemed pretty satisfactory. If you don't like tying flashabou yourself (and who does?) it's a pretty good alternative.

Musky Mayhem uses "custom" flashabou, currently you cannot buy it from Hedron unless you have an excise tax number, and still then, Musky Mayhem may have an exclusive contract. I know that Dick Moore, from Moore's Tackle is trying to carry some.

Thank you all, i would rather here it from fisherman that have used it than call Rolie&Helen and have them say oh yea its awesome.Just a little more satisfied.

Not trying to give you a hard time Tony. Your question though sounded like you were asking for particular information (how thick, tied on coil) rather than opinions of the performance of the product.

yes true, my bad, how does it look in the water? does it hold up real well?

an upside of flashabou is that many people like the way it flashes, pulses, and "balls-up" behind the blades. one of the downsides of this is that it tends to tie itself in wraps around hook shanks, etc.

Posts: 663 | No sweat Tony, I tried it on a couple tails I built last fall in the smaller size (think Showgirl) and it worked just fine. Frankly I like tying flashabou myself. I can layer and blend the colors the way I want to. Flashabou tends to be a little trickier to tie than bucktail hair but if you get used to manipulating the material it's just a short learning curve.
