Location: north central wisconsin | Now, I am thinking of either going with the trolling plate or getting a kicker. I will probably try the trolling plate first as price dictates. Any recomendations on kicker motors, and where to find a decent used one(if there are many around...) etc? I am a yammy guy but would probably put a Merc on to match things up. Probalby look into a 4 stroke too, for ease of gas line hookup. Anyone run a kicker in a bigger tiller and have a setup schematic?

Jason,
I wouldn't think that your boat should shake or vibrate while at a low speed troll........ Is your prop shaft bent just a hair? maybe ?
I'd check it out...... Or a bent prop blade could cause a vibration.

| What prop do you have on there?I have to agree maybe something with the prop or shaft unless it just runs rough?Then I would maybe try that power tune from merc good product.I am also surprised at your forward speed seems fast,I had a 98 90 2stroke on a 1890 warrior and got down to 1.9 to2.0 gps with motor trimmed all the way down.It also ran fairly smooth.I also had a high 5 prop which I think helps alot. |

Location: north central wisconsin | i take it out of gear and it runs fairly smooth. That said, it is a new/er stainless prop. there isn't a single nick or ding in the prop or even the skeg. Looks like new down there. Will keep digging, as I don't think it should shake like that. |

It slows the boat down to a crawl, not even neccesary on my boat. I'm considering removing it, mostly cuz I wonder how much it rattles around when i'm trolling and it's up.
while its up, it acts as a stabilizer... i think .  |

| Dave Jackley trolls with his 75 Merc 2 stroke. I'll tell him to put up a post. JoMusky trolls with his 200EFI, and he says he has no issues. Not sure if either rungs ring free or the Merc fuel additive. Perhaps you just got some carbon goofing things up.
I would go with the kicker, if at all possible. Try to find a ProKicker if you can. These things are awesome. Quiet, smooth, and great throttle control, but I'd look to add a Trollmaster anyway. If you go with a straight 4 stroke, try to find a Bracket Pro. Not made any more, I understand, but it will keep the abuse down by supporting the kicker when running the big motor at speed. And 8 HP may be enough for you, so that may save you some deneros. |
