The Wisconsin Muskie Tour’s (WMT) Lac Vieux Desert and North/South Twin Lakes tournament weekend has proved to be the most popular combination of one-day tournaments on the WMT’s schedule. Last year, both Lac Vieux Desert and the “Twins” filled to capacity on the same day in early spring and both had long waiting lists. Muskie hunters “in the know” realize that both lakes have a high probability to produce very large muskies. In 2006, the “Twins” gave up two muskies over fifty inches during the WMT tournament. This year’s tournaments are set for Memorial Day weekend (as in the past); Lac Vieux Desert on Saturday, May 26th and the “Twins” on Monday, May 28th.

Both tournaments are one-day events in the WMT’s eastern region and are expected to fill to capacity, resulting in a $10,000.00 payout to the first place finishers in each tournament. An exciting addition to the WMT program is the “Muskie Double Header™”, where a team can win an additional $10,000.00 bonus if a team wins both one-day tournaments in the same weekend.

The headquarters for the Lac Vieux Desert tournament will be at Hillside Resort; Grape’s Twin Haven on North/South Twin Lakes. The public is invited to attend the awards ceremony and talk with tournament anglers at both tournaments at 5:00pm following each tournament at their designated headquarters.

The first place prize money is $10,000.00 in one-day tournaments that have a field of 60 teams. The WMT is open to the public to compete in all qualifying tournaments. A team can fish one event, or as many they prefer. The cost per tournament per two-angler team is only $300.00. The WMT is a twenty-one tournament circuit, hosting tournaments on some of the world’s best muskie waters in Wisconsin. Men, women and young anglers of all skill levels have enjoyed the camaraderie and competition that the WMT has offered over the years. To enter the tournament and for more information log onto the WMT’s website (www.wmtseries.com), email [email protected], or call 715-369-1394.
