I have a 100 Merc. with a leaky trim pump or ram. Can't tell exactly where it is coming from. Is it better/cheaper to rebuild or just replace. If replace is best option is it something I can do myself?
Thanks

what year is it?

We are having a similiar problem with an 1988 one...it ends up being replacement is the only option.

I would also love to know if we can do the work out selves!

Mine is a 1997... I have a seasonal camper on the Chip. and leave it up there all summer. I put it on the trailer when I leave on Sunday and when I get back Friday night it has leaked it's fluid out. If I am just up for the weekend it will be fine but when I go for a week I have to pull it out and fill it. Just started doing it toward the end of the year last year. I was told that when it gets to that point it is better just to replace it . I am a former truck mechanic so I like to fix things myself. Any advice on replacing it would be helpful.
Thanks

Probably right Mike. It is just killing us to not have the boat in the water being able to fish at this point...Thank God I have some new friends that I am going out with next weekend! My Poor boat partner and owner of the boat we use will not have been fishing for a month by the time he gets it fixed
