I was just wondering which rail mount rod holders most prefer. I have been running clamp on Down East Saltys for years. i love the durability but don't like how difficult rod placement and removal can be. Any vinyl ones that are quite tough, and will hold up to trolling rigors well?

Jason, IMO the Salty Down East rod holders are the best for numerous reasons as you probably already know, just call Down East and buy the rail clamps....the holder itself is all the same....clamps are like 12 bucks I think...also this is your cheapest route especially if you have down easters already. Folbe is what I am using. Way better than the Scotty's, they lock down, and are made to withstand the vicious strikes of Pacific Salmon.

Rollie and Helens has them. You'll see them, and maybe use them next week.

Shep, don't you mean the vicious strikes of walleyes eating spinner rigs.
heh heh heh

Jason, Go with the rail mount Down Easters. like mentioned above all you need is the rail mount, and you can use the holder part of your clamp ons.

Touche, Tuffdaddy. Thanks for catching the spelling error.

But I didn't design them, I only use them. And let me tell you. They are much easier to use than the Downeasters. I had them on my last Tuffy, and I hated them. Noisy, clunky, pain in the a$$ rod holders. They were durable. I'll give them that. Even Reef Hawg says the Downeasters are hard to use. Just giving him some sage advice.

Oh, and Pewaukee is going to ROCK on the opener. You guys might as well stay at the launch after your JoMusky lunch!

J,

You might as well fork out another G and buy the bulletproof rod holders. Most importantly put a beer holder where i will be sitting.

already installed(the beer holder). You owe me big time. I had to search high and low for a holder that accomodated King Cans.
