| The Wisconsin Muskie Tour (WMT) will be kicking off the 2007 season with two one-day, catch and release-only muskie tournaments on the Madison Chain. On Saturday, May 12th, the WMT will hosting an event on Lake Monona and on Sunday, May 13th, a separate tournament will be held on Waubesa and Upper Mud lakes. Each tournament is expected to fill to capacity and will pay a first place prize of $10,000.00 at each event (with a full field of participation). An extra $10,000.00 for the “Muskie Double Header™” bonus is available to a team if they win both tournaments, which could earn the team $30,000.00 for the weekend!
After a long winter of dreaming about muskie fishing, many anglers look forward to the early WMT Madison Chain tournaments. Over the years, the muskie fishing during early season has proven to be very good with plenty of action for the competing anglers. The WMT’s Madison tournaments has gained in popularity with the tournament anglers as it has afforded them with a perfect opportunity to qualify for the Invitational Championship early in the twenty-one WMT series season.
The headquarters for the Lake Monona tournament will be at the Badger Bowl, and the headquarters for the Waubesa/Upper Mud Lake event will be at Christie’s Landing. The public is welcome to attend the awards ceremony at both tournaments at 5:00pm following each event at the designated headquarters.
The first place prize money is $10,000.00 in one-day tournaments that have a field of 60 teams. The WMT is open to the public to compete in all qualifying tournaments. A team can fish one event, or as many they prefer. The cost per tournament per two-angler team is only $300.00. The WMT is a twenty-one tournament circuit, hosting tournaments on some of the world’s best muskie waters in Wisconsin. Men, women and young anglers of all skill levels have enjoyed the camaraderie and competition that the WMT has offered over the years.
