I just got a report that Chad Cain and his clients have boated 66 fish in the last 10 days. Rattlin' Shad caught EVERY ONE!!

Tight Lines,
Karen

Sounds great. My buddy and I are coming down from Michigan to cave run on Thursday. The weather is suppose to warm up and hopefully the great fishing will continue. Thanks for the info

Are you sure Chad is fishing Cave Run? I thought he was a Kinkad type of guy.

Yeah, it's my understanding Chad is tearing them up in Illinois with these baits. Took him a couple years to become a 'believer' in rattle shads, now it looks like Cain is raising fish instead of the other way around! m

Will get you the rattlin shads. You can also use the Lewis Rattletraps, but you'll need to upgrade the split rings and hooks, the Producer brand comes ready to fish. Give Karen a shout and she can fix you right up. I think hers run 3/4, one oz. and 1.5 oz. and there are a variety of colors. I recommend anything with a chrome flash for muddy water. m

Excellent early spring bait. Use reel with higher gear ratio to get more vibration. Karen, nice pic of you &mom at Mecca restaurant (ran into her on St. Pattys day)

If 66 fish had been caught on cave run , it would have been splattered in so many places it might have displaced Anna Nichole as the lead news story on fox news. Cave run must be the most over hyped lake known to man.

Dude, it's the musky capitol of the South! You can't swing a dead cat without hitting a guide down there. A more beautiful piece of water is hard to find! m

I think it was 49 fish in 9 days, not 66 in 10. I spoke with him the other day.

I take that you couldn't raise fish at Cave Run by your comments, "Guest". The fish are there but, she's not going to just give them to you. She does get alot of pressure but, you have to adapt to it. Also you might want to compare the survey (fish per acre) on the two lakes. Some lakes it's just the numbers that make a difference. Myself I would rather fish for a 50+ incher than numbers. Pat

The guides down here at Cave Run Lake are for the most part a great bunch of guys.

However; it can be strongly suggested to "take with a grain of salt" frequent reports about numbers and sizes of fish (especially now that the season is starting). Of course there are great fish being caught down here, but the "when" and "where" can (and will) be likely stretched from time-to-time.

Remember when we were kids, and we used to hear people say (referring to just about anything), "Oh, that just a fish story."

That did not become part of the American lexicon by accident .... there was most probably some basis-in-fact justifying this expression's widespread use and overall acceptance (people understanding what that meant even though the subject matter was totally unrelated to the sport of fishing).

Just a personal opinion based upon prolonged observation of my fellow human beings.

Craig

Yeah, I decided to book all my trips this year a week ahead of when I originally planned. Every time I go somewhere they say, "you shoulda been here last week".
