| I was thinking of a 6'9" H or XH for jerks but wondered how this rod would be for jerkbaits. I've heard it's not as rigid as one might think and surprisingly has some flex at the tip. I know it'd be awesome at chucking lumber sized baits but how bout the average jerkbaits such as suicks and gliders like mantas? |

Location: Stevens Point, WI | I used the St. Croix Premier 6'9 for chucking Suicks. The rod was in my opinion the best rod I have found for throwing baits like that. I would highly suggest it! As for throwing gliders like mantas, haven't used any of the bigger mantas but it maybe work, not sure how heavy those baits are but I know the smaller mantas this rod would be way too much in my opinion. |

Location: Sandusky, OH | I handled one in the store this weekend, and that thing is stout (79XXXH). I don't think it would be very suitable for the average jerkbait or glider. You'd be better off with the 69h or xh (And I thought the xh was too stout for my preferences). Maybe someone who has used one will speak to it's flexibility, but I thought the 79xxxh was intended for huge plastics and mega-sized baits (hence the 8-20 ounce rating).

| I would agree with bluegill. It would work for throwing average jerkbaits but it sure would not be the blank I would choose for it. This bait is made for the big stuff....pounders, two pounders and so on.

Location: Smith Creek | Nope. Still the same. Rating was adjusted to reflect the rod's capability, not a blank change. And I believe they're being discontinued so if you want one better snatch it up. Extend the handle 4-5 inches and it isn't THAT bad of a rod. |

Location: 15 miles east of Lake Kinkaid | I have fished the rod, but instead I glued some guides on a 7'9" piece of 2" diameter rebar and it was lighter and worked just as well. I hate this rod and have watched friends lose 100% of the fish hooked on the rod. (No joke a 0% hook to land ratio on 12 fish). |

I didn't even know that 2" rebar existed..

I got a used one that's rated to 20oz. But a friend of mine has one with a 30oz rating.
That was confusing.
Want to pick it up for Mammoth Suez.
I will also extend the handle to 18-20inches. |
