Dang, when did it rain to get the lake so muddy! I hope it clears up before i get down there next weekend. Its supposed to be high 60's all week then mid 40's for the weekend! It always wants to get cold when i go fishin! Nice fish, what water temps are you finding?

Very nice. I noticed the water color in the background. What was the visibility and what type of lure did she hit.

The lake is clear from Zilppo Flats to the dam. clear water temps were 45-46*

Long bow to Zilppo is very dirty, you can't see into the water 2" But this is where the worm water is. 48-52*

we found the 52* water and threw very noisy baits, moved a couple more but they couldn't find the baits.

She hit in 4ft. of coffee with cream water and then she went crazy.....

I may stay a few more days,

Jerome

Here is another picture of Jerome’s fish.

I had the pleasure of fishing with Jerome today and was lucky enough to net it for him. Thanks for the invite Jerome!

I won’t give away the details, but it was a hell of a fight! As soon as it was hooked the fish made a furious run to deep water. In close proximity to standing timber there were some tense moments before she was in the net. It was a real thrill for me scooping up that beast.

Thanks again Jerome.

Bruce

Jerome

Way to get a good start on 07, congrats on the big girl. Thinks are warming up here, it is over 50 for 2 day in a row. Pretty soon we might have some open water.

Well, It turned nasty here yesterday.

Rain, wind, cold 42-43* when the weather man was calling for a high of 62* Saturday low of 24* with snow will make it rough for Tony's group.

Mike Tackett nailed a fat 52.5" on Tues.
Water temps yesterday were 46-48* Moved 2 fish but no takers.

Good Luck out there, Jerome

Well, we finally got to our spring break trip to Cave Run!!! There were a few problems getting there; the truck broke down at 2:00 AM in the middle of Illinois (which cost us a whole day of fishing), then getting lost in Cinncinati cost us another hour. Finally got camp set up around midnight Wednesday night. We talked to Crash a little earlier that night and he gave us a few tips and let us know what had been caught the past week.
Temps dropped from 80 on Wednesday to mid 40's Thursday to mid 30's Friday. Sure wish we could have been there on Wednesday, but things happen. We nailed a 40" fatty on Thursday afternoon on a shoreline which the wind had been pounding for two days straight. It ate a big, straight firetiger Believer in a few feet of water. I was lucky enough to net it for my friend, Seth who was all smiles after it was in the net. (See Picture below) We fished in rain and wind Thursday and even a little bit of snow on Friday. Camping was a little chilly, but also saved us quite a bit of money and we had the campground all too ourselves, as well as a few coyotes.
Anxious to hear how the Musky Road Rules fishermen did on the weekend. We didn't see sun for more than ten minutes all Thursday, Friday and Saturday morning on the water. Of course, as soon as we took the boat out Saturday the clouds parted and it was sunny. We all had a great time and will be back in the future. I'd really like to thank everyone on here who left me a message or helped in anyway; as well as Crash Mullins for cluing us in where to fish and opening after hours for some parking passes.
Hope to hear some good stories of this weekend from any of you Road Rules guys, Jake Bucki

Hut the Cave again this afternoon about 1:00 pm.

Got to my first spot and 4 casts later had a 48.5 really, really, FAT girl tailwalking on the surface in about 3 feet of water!! What a Rush.......Also boated a 36" on a Cowgirl in 2 ft. of water.

Air temps were 44-48* and the water temps were 49-51* The big girl hit a 9" Reef Hawg...... Sorry no pics, I was by myself, but I did snap one in the net.

Going out with Mikie tomorrow for a 50" plus fish. Later.

The phuquin' monkey is dead! Got one! Whoo-hoo!
Now, the last cast is alwyas for Kly, yesterday's first cast was for Harry. Get well soon, dude! The second cast (on the new Abu TCM me wifie got me for my birfday), a short male rolled over on my big Gene's wide glide. Bait was about half the size of the fish, but it came to the boat. I had two very solid strikes on a muskie treats, by all rights that fish should have been in the net, but just didn't get hooked. Jerome had a very very long fish to the boat and around once on a weagle; in one litle cove we moved 8-9 different fish; a couple a couple times, I think. It was nutz until about noon when the sun came out and killed the bite.
I won't mention the fish back in Little Cave, but let's say that we both had several chances to boat fish, in my book a great day on Cave Run with a good stick at the helm.
Bad news is, my right wrist is now about twice the size of the other one. My tendonitis is back, so it's back to the doc to see if he'll run me up with cortizone again? It also means no fishing for a few weeks - well, maybe smallmouth but not muskie baits - and it's unlikely I'll be hitting the Wis. opener.
"It's not getting old that's the problem, it's being old"
I'll be back. Thanks, Jerome, for a memorable day. m

Man the action yesterday was unreal !!

Mikie and I should have boated at least 4 nice fish,

I've been coming down to the Cave every spring for the last 6 years and NEVER had the opportunity to boat as many fish in one day as we had yesterday.!!

Today really sucked, it rained all day.............. At least 1-2" ... missed another big one back in little Cave.

I really need to pay attention more.

Jerome, actually, I had more fun missing that one fish twice than boating the 27 incher, that's so cool when they seem to come out of nowhere, nail it, drop it and split before you really realize what's happening. My reflexes are getting no younger, of that I'm certain.

Best action I've had about anywhere, can't thank you enough for the opportunity. Drive safe, my friend, we'll do it again. m
