| What type of lure are you asking about? Round lures done on a lathe- globe, thumper, etc. you can drill an 1/8" hole through for the wire. For a flat sided glide bait, I like to use two sides, bend the wire to fit the bait route a chanel for the wire and glue the two sides together. A little more involved, but that's how I do it. |

Have fun!

| Mostly glide baits, but have been getting into very large crank baits. I knew sooner or later that I would have to build my lures with through wire construction. Something I do to my lures that may be a little bit different is pour lead directly into holes drill'd into the wood. I am going to have to get creative with the wire route, in order to get the lead in the right spot. Thanks for the great pictures. |

Location: KY | Here is one of a batch I have been working on this winter. It shows through wire on a Basswood bait. It is about 4 1/4 in long.

| Hey Bruce! Great pictures, Why do you choose to use such a soft wood? I've always tried to use poplar, mahoganey, or pine. I know that the magic maker was made out of poplar, before it was switch'd to plastic. Just wandering |

In this case it was buoyancy and easy to shape. I have used pine for most of my other lures. |

I'd rather use Cedar and screw eyes and devote my time into the finish. Just my opinion of course. You've done a great job with yours. |
