This past Fall I was fishing LOW and While I was trolling I got hung up So I used my lure retriever to get my lure and up comes two lures my Jake and a Hot Perch Depth Raider. All three hooks rusted away and the leader must have been lodged in the Rocks. This DR has caught a lot of Muskies and is riddled with teeth marks and holes,The 2 foot single strand leader and solid O ring (not split ring) was still in place.I know the solid Depth Raider in the Hot Perch pattern has only been out for a couple of years and with all the hooks rusted away I would think this lure has been there for sometime. Now for the fun part If you can tell me what Island I found this lure I will send is back to you......like I said This DR has caught a lot of muskies Hint LOW map 6216 NW Angle

Check out http://www.baystorecamp.com/reports.htm and look for the "who can top this?" thread. A guy lost a lure, another guy snagged it up on the same day, caught a fish on it, and lost it again!

The hot perch pattern one was of Joe's first colors from back in the day. The jointed in that color has always been my favorite. Might have been there awhile. I'll take it if nobody claims it...heheh.. That said, I found a clown colored 9" big game twitch bait on Jean Baptiste rock complex this past summer. Anyone lose one of those??

While fishing at the Outing last June in Wisc., I pitch a Reef Hog between the branches of a fallen tree and came back with another jerkbait hooked to mine. Cleaned it up put new hooks on it and Haven't fished it ........yet.

Sanks borrowed a Superman color 10" JAKE from Frank Walsh 2 years ago and lost it in the rocks. If your ever going to fish there buy both lure retrievers lots of hang-ups. Opening day last year I found a jointed perch firetiger raider on shore in the same condition, with new split rings and hooks it lives to fight another day.

One of our members (Cap City MI) hooked something and by the time he got the other lines in (he was by himself) it was spooled off. He went back and found his line. The he started cranking it in and managed to bring the obstruction of the bottom of the lake. It was a xmas tree with 5 other baits on it. Now that's a catch.

Found a handfull of stuff in my fishing ventures. On Pewaukee lake I trolled up a Berkely Lightning rod with a Shimano reel. Cleaned that up and it works just fine. About an hour later I got a bucktail snagged on my Jake. Also have found a pretty cool bait in the river that is made by a local guy, who I finally got to meet one night while fishing down there.

Yep....pretty sure I caught a 15 lb anchor on White Bear last year trolling the basin...that was a freaking chinese fire drill for a minute...until we realized it was nothing be dead weight...snagged a couple fishing poles on my home water...clean the rods up and they are in use by a friend of mine...

While fishing Silver Lake in Kenosha County the first year I started muskie fishing, we took a break and put down the anchor. When I brought up the anchor, laying in the weed mat on top of the anchor was an Amma Bamma. The next year I caught my first 40 incher out of Pewaukee on the Amma Bamma. My partner had purchased one at the show that winter, was working it and not quite getting the feel for it. So I pulled my out, and after proudly saying " this is how you work it", right then I had the 40 incher eat. One of my favorite personal fishing stories.

On LOTW near Kanora my buddy and I once found an tool box opend plus contents cascaded down a steep rock ledge. We figured the previous owner had hit the isolated rocks with his motor, pulled out the tool box to try to repair and then knocked the open tool box out of the boat. We had one of those big magnets (on a rope) with us and we must have pulled 50-60 tools out of off the rocks, plus the metal toolbox, from 4' down to 30" down.

I know Gelb and Bucher used the straight Hot perch DR for years but they fish the Nester Falls area. How long would it take for hooks to rust off? Was somebody trolling without hooks, that explains all the teeth holes HA HA

My brother and I were trolling on just west of Van Riper Bay on the southern shoreline on Vermillion lake 2 years ago in October. He had on a 8 inch superman jake and snagged something that felt like a tree branch. After a few minutes of yanking the lure came free. He reeled in the slank line and found another 8 inch superman jake attached to his. We later went to the casino and won 50K...JK What are the odds??? At least I knew I picked the right bait.

thedude

The bait we snagged is the bottom one (with replaced hooks) and the leader is to the left. Any takers??

Salmon fishing during the run a couple of years ago I saw a guy lose a rod and reel after a fish grabbed the marshmallow he was using and go on a run. He didn't get to it in time. An hour later I was casting and snagged the line, got the reel, and managed to land both the rod and the fish. I kept the salmon but gave the guy his rod back.

Reeled in a plastic lawn chair. Trolled up a pile of mono, at the end was a #7 shad rap with a 4# catfish that had his mouth shut by the trebles. It looked like it had been there for a long while. It was cool to cut the hooks and watch it slowly swim off.
It amazes me how much line I pull out of the water each year. I hope I never catch someone throwing their line away into the lake. They won't make that mistake again.
