| I need suggestions for packaging and shipping a large musky net.
I've been told that UPS Store guidelines for UPS Ground are:
1. put net in box - shipping cost $100
2. pad the net, bubble wrap it, and tape it up - shipping cost around $35
($20 for shipping, and $15 charge for not being in a box)
Also, if it's not in a box UPS won't guarantee that it will arrive as it was shipped....in
other words, they will only take responsibility if it's lost in that case.
Just what is the best way to wrap/package and ship a large musky net?

Location: W. PA. | Bob, I've never done it but how 'bout some of that foam pipe insulation that comes in 4' lengths? You could wrap the frame in that and tape it. I'd think that would protect it pretty well. |

| If you live in the midwest and your going to ship it in the midwest use Speedie delivery put it in a thin cardboard box,(you'll probably have to make it) and ship it.
They ship 8' rods for less than $10.00 |

| I shipped one (kwik kradle) wrapped in foam and bubble wrap. I believe it was around $20 UPS. |

Location: Wisconsin | It is by weight to a certain point, then the dimensions of the package take over. Oversized packages then can cost quite a bit. Where are you shipping to? Maybe a half way drop off / pick up? Also, sometimes FedEx ground is cheaper.... make sure to insure it. Those ramp monkeys that work for the shippers usually don't care about packages.

| I just recieved a new Frabill about 5 minutes ago that Spee-Dee delivery dropped off directly from Frabill. The net handle had some bubble wrap around it and the rest was covered with a clear plastic bag. Nothing fancy and it got delivered in perfect shape.
I need to thank MuskieFirst for this net since it was from the Fantasy Angler contest. You guys rock!

Location: Hugo, MN | I sold 2 nets on e-bay this year and shipped them both via UPS I found a couple large boxes and flattened them and slipped the net in like it was an envelope then you only get dinged for 2 of the 3 measurements. I had to do some cutting of the boxes and it was a bit akward but it worked well and they arrived in good shape, at least I never heard any complaints. It only cost $35 to ship them via UPS Ground.
UPS Charges by weight and dimensions.
