Lake levels can be checked here anytime: http://www.lrl.usace.army.mil/wc/reports/lkreport.html

Ice is all gone, but it's been very windy here the past few days (gusts up to 30 mph). The lake is currently 3 feet below summer pool, but that's only becasue it's rained a lot lately. It will most likely be dropped back down to winter pool levels within a few days if there is no additional, substantial rain. The watter is still pretty cold for this time of year (hovering in the low 40's or a little less).

My understanding is that it will be a late starting season this year. If air temps would get into the mid-50's range and stay there for a week to ten days .... the fish will become more active. Additionally and with some luck, the temps at night will go no lower than the freezing mark, which will also contribute to the water warming up as a prelude to the action ahead.

Hope this helps.

Craig

Nail one good one, Jerome, show us how it's done. I'll be over the following weekend, maybe by then the fish will have recovered from the thrashing you'll give them. m

Sounds like things are starting to heat up down there. We are coming down from Michigan this week any suggestions on where we should start. We are pretty familiar with what to use but we have only fished cave run one time. Any information would be greatly appreciated

I fished with Tony Friday evening (it snowed!), Saturday (it was cold!), and half of Sunday (still real cold). We sucked. There was a 37 inch fish caught in Scotts Creek on Saturday by Pat from NJ and Gregg popped a 29 trolling yesterday for Don, who got his very first muskie!!!!!

Wonderful Road Rules school Gregg and Tony put on, can't thank them enough for the great info and promotional baits! The food was absolutely excellent. Once again, the Curse of The Mikie strikes and I'm still up to one fish for Cave Run. Tony was taking his boat to Morehead last night to warsh the skunk off it, it should be real good down there this week. Rattlebaits in the flats and hollers. m
