Have you guys ever counted how many casts you make in an hrs. time when doing some serious casting? Is 10,000 casts what it takes to put a fish in the boat??
I'm thinking not. Heres what my CPH is roughly, and yes I did count.

Reg sized bucktails: 53-54 casts per hr.
Mag. bucktails: 35-36 CPH

Weagles: 25-26 CPH
Jackpots: 30-31 CPH
prop baits: 35-36 CPH

Mag. Dawgs:36-37 CPH

Ok,If you guys dont think I'm a fruit cake by now, answere this question, am I fishing these baits to fast or to slow? Good greif ! It must be winter!

BWAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA!

H20, I gotta hand it to 'ya. I never counted. Wondered a lot, but never counted. I can't answer your question, for that reason, but I am going to use your numbers:

On average, presuming equal time given to each bait type, you are throwing 36 casts per hour (36.5 actually)

On a 10 hour day, I am going to guess you spend 1 hour without a lure in the water between moving to spots changing lures, etc.

That means on an average day you would throw about 324 casts.

Let's think about the 10,000 cast rule:

Presuming that a typical day on the water is 9 hours of actual casting and one hour of down time, were the 10,000 cast rule true, it would take 30.86 days of fishing to catch a single musky.

If that were the norm, I doubt anyone would do it.

I average around 600 casts in a 9-11 hour day. Depending on the baits....it could be a few more or a few less.

Just my 2 cents worth....now I KNOW it is winter!
