Posts: 32954 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Recently, Rob took a lure of mine to his shop to refinish it, and called me later that he had found 42 teeth stuck in the lure body. Don't know how many on that lure, but it was well over 60.

Being that it is made of oak and I keep recoating it this lure may catch over 100 fish before I hang it on the wall. It has 63 now with a lot of big fish to its credit. I have several other little claws with pretty good numbers as well including an old Copper Carp with 46 fish. My second best lure is my old Blue frog Loke from 1996. It has 57 fish to its credit now and still going. I have one Talonz Slasher with 31 fish but its in pretty rough shape. Here are two pics with these 4 lures. I built three of the 4 . Posts: 1996 Location: Pelican Lake/Three Lakes Chain | I had a Blackbird Top Raider that was legendary in my boat for a few years. I don't know how many fish I caught on that bait, but it was without doubt over 50, and probably more near 100. When the bait finally gave up (the wire between the tail and the body broke) it felt like I lost an old friend. My buddy that was fishing with me was afraid to say anything, we fished in silence for about 10 minutes before he worked up the nerve to ask very softly "dude, you going to be alright?" Turns out there was nothing magical in that Top Raider, the next one works just as well!

Posts: 3518 Location: north central wisconsin | Norm, My 'ole blacky' gave up the ghost after a similar number of fish 4 years ago(I watched the tail section sink out of sight while fighting the last fish on it in Price County WI). I had my buddy Ryan drill it, through wire it, and put a tail from a different topraider on it(he also has made some tails for some of my other ones, which work). Obviously not the exact same thing, but at least the front half of the original 'dream weaver' is still in use. If you'd like that done to your sweatheart, let me know.
