Location: Minnesota | I have been toying around with making my own soft bait. FYI-This would NOT be a copy of the Bull Dawg or Suzy Sucker but my own design.
My question, is there a need for another large lure like this? Bull Dawgs by far own this market. So a follow-up question would be, if you saw another large soft bait in the stores and needed one, would you grab another Bull Dawg or would you try a new one? I would try to price mine $5-$10 under the others to help sales and encourage people to try them. I am still pricing these out to make sure I can even make them w/packaging and still make a few bucks.

Location: Indiana | Always room for another swim bait. Yes I would buy something new, in fact I have a box filled with soft plastic baits. The old bulldawgs are hard to find,the new ones have rubber and harness issues that I do not like,which has made me repair the older ones with rubber from the newer ones. What shape, size, weight are you toying with? Hope to see pictures of it soon.Good luck with it and hope to here more about it. Keep up the good work.

| I would always try to buy something that is made by the person selling. It is a quality issue for me. I would not get so hung up on price but rather make sure it is the best product in the market.
That is why I like show season.

Location: Oregon | I think there is always room for new baits...I know I'm always looking to try something new. And although the suzy sucker and bulldawg are cool baits, neither of them are a new concept. There has been baits with curly tails and swim bait shapes made from rubber for longer than any of us have been alive. To be honest, I'm surprised there hasn't been a whole bunch more large baits with curly tails given the success of the bulldawg. Look at the bass industry, there is literally a hundred different baits with curly tails.

Location: Oregon | Here's a couple of molded rubber baits made in the 1800's that are nearly identical to the swimbaits of today. There isn't a single bait on the market today that is really a new concept, most are just modifications to ideas that have been around for a long, long, time.

| I would say theres always room for something new, what the soft bait market is missing right now is a large, say 8 or 9 inch fish shaped bait with a natural looking fork tail , slow sinking so not a swim bait, I suppose what Im describing is a large shad but with a natural looking tail instead of a paddle tail....thats unless theres something out there already that Im not aware of? |

Let me also be the first one to volunteer to field test your new bait, James. I get plenty of time on the water and like to play around with new stuff.

As with any new bait I will need some "volunteers" to help me test it and get the word out. 
Weagle took about three years to get popular and I think the Cowgirls took about that long too.
