| I'm off to the Mom-in-Law's in Adams tonight. Eric said we should kill a doe for gramma for Christmas, so he's got the doe tag, and he will be in the stand come first light tomorrow morning. Luckily, it won't be 0 degrees out! I figure I'll put on a pot of coffee around 6:00 AM, and will hear his shot around 7:00 AM. Then we'll put a new storm door on for her, and head to the butcher!
Anybody else hunting the extra doe season? |

| There's a nice big doe hanging from the old oak tree! Backstraps are out and marinating, and we're telling stories! Eric had 5 to choose from, and he selected the finest of Adams County's corn fed venison on the hoof! One shot, and she began assuming ambient temperature! Gramma has a smile! |

The doe kill is on. Me and a friend went out yesterday after work and he shot a doe. Very cool to watch him stick his first deer. We are using bows even though we could use a gun. With meat in the freezer we are going for the sporting bow kills. Tomarrow morning I am going to stick me some more back straps. Maybe tenderloins for breakfast and back straps for supper like Shep.
Congrats to Eric, he is turning out like this old man. Great job Shep keeping on the tradition. |

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Well as planned, a big doe tripped in at 4 PM and fell to Sue's .243. Sue and I are done hunting, though I could still shoot an antlerless with the bow. I might just find myself in that same tree before the archery season ends, but the ice is calling!
The new Frabill GT is together (HUGE!) and looking good, so tomorrow I'll be drilling some holes by 2 PM. Canning a few pints of venison now and tomorrow morning (36 or so)...yummmmmy. |
