Hey guys,

What rod would you guys advise me for fishing jigs from a drifting boat over deeper structure?
I'm in doubt between the G.L MUR861C-CR, MUR862C-CR, MUR863C-CR and MUR933C-LB for this aproach.
The extra length from the latter seems a to me as a plus for the technique but i think i lose a bit at the feeling from the bait wobbling down.
The lure will exist out of a 3/4oz to 1oz jighead and a 6" to 8" rubber creature.
It doesn't specialy needs to be GL it also may be a St Croix rod.
But i put this mark here to have a starting point.

Regards Northern.

I'd buy the rod that matches the weight of the lure as closely as possible, remembering that vertical jigging, especially with a casting rod, is really tough on the wrist unless you have the rod balanced.

Believe it or not, I use balanced spinning gear. The wrist pivots naturally using a spinning rod, not so much so with a casting rod. Hold the rod in front of the reel, index finger touching the line as you work the lure, and you won't miss many pick-ups.

Thanks Steve,

I overlooked the part of the pivot points from the wrist, i'll keep it in mind.
After weighting the lures i have boost up to 4 - 5 oz rod.

Steve - I occasionally take friends who don't use baitcast reels for their first muskie fish. Spinning gear would be nice to offer them. What do you use that's stout enough?
