Here is what it said:

55 inches, 47lbs 3 oz. Undisclosed lake in Canada.
He thinks it is the big fish in North America for 2006.

Location: minocqua, wi.		it's definitely a big one, but there were other north american giants that came up bigger? ... didn't Steve Jonesi's scale weigh at 53# prior to the release? ... would be interesting to truly north-america's top 10 giants for the year ... this topic should keep the moderators tuned in!

Location: Nebraska		This one was 58x28 caught by Sal Ratolo out of the St Lawrence this year. It was hooked in both eyes, so was deemed to not be able to survive so it was kept. From what I heard, the fisherman are C&R with lots of big fish to their names so would have released if they thought it would survive.

Location: Watertown, MN		Good point, it is truly a pig, but I don't know if it will make top 10, Steve's fish was 52-53 on the uncertified scale, while that was a pig, didn't thorpe have to upper 50 in one day. It would be safe to say MN state record has been potentially caught and release by several people this fall, cudos to those who don't need to fuel their ego by whacking a fish that could bring them some fame. As the headline say 2006 year of the big fish, now if I could only get my boat out of the shop again.

Looks like that 58" was a St. Lawrence, just basing off markings. What an amazing fishery!
