Posts: 1188 Location: Iowa | As the cold water season rapidly approaches and a lot of us turn to sucker fishing, I was curious to know what everyone thinks is the best sucker rig to use as far as keeping a sucker free moving yet effective enough to put the hooks into a fish...I have a couple rigs already which include a small and large bucher rig, a mania lift off rig, and 2 herbie rigs...each I think have there advantages, each their disadvantages...any thoughts/opinion would be greatly appreciated... Posts: 239 Location: Madison, WI | I’ve experimented with all 3 rigs you mentioned. I have had my best luck with the Herbie Rig. It is now my go to QS rig. Also consider picking up a sucker stretcher. It makes rigging live bait quick and easy. I got one as a gift and don’t leave home without it in the fall!

If you are looking for trully heavy duty quick set rigs take a look at Bulletproof Tackle. The rigs I make are all hand tied construction and built to catch the fish of a lifetime. Our system incorporates a rubber band but the way we do it is slightly different than others. With our system there is no snap to potentialy fail and you have the abillity to rubber band all of your bait a head of time to save time on bait changes durring a hot bite. We offer 4 different rigs to choose from depending on size of bait and fluoro or sevenstrand wire. We also manufacture heavy duty baiting needles that will last you forever. If you are a fall trophy live bait fisherman I am sure you will agree they are the best built on the market. Check out bulletprooftackle.com to check it out or to place an order. Good luck fishing, Duane
