When the Wisconsin Muskie Tour (WMT) and the Eagle River Chamber of Commerce met in late 2005 to discuss the possibilities of hosting the WMT's Invitational Championship on the Eagle River Chain of Lakes, both parties agreed that bringing 66 of the top professional teams for 2006 to Eagle River could produce the most exciting Championship in muskie fishing history. That is exactly what happened on September 23rd and 24th! With over $300,000.00 in cash and prizes offered at this years WMT Invitational Championship, the air was charged and all eyes were on Eagle River in anticipation of the final outcome. Thirty muskies would be registered for the event, setting a new Invitational Championship record. Dan and Mike Wojtusik, breaking the mark of 45 ½ inches, previously registered during past Championship tournaments registered a 48 inch muskie.
The top finishing teams for the WMT Eagle River Invitational Championship are:
1. John Steckel & Randy Machtan 35 ¼” + 37 ¾” + 35”
2. Tyler Maney and Gordon Hastreiter 34 ¼ “+ 38 ½ “
3. Dan Buss and Bob Chitty 35 ½” + 36”
4. Chris Conklin and Pete Brzezinski 34” + 34 ¼”
5. Dan & Mike Wojtusik 48”
6. Mike Etzel & Paul Parise 42 ¼”
7. Mike Bruggink and Bryan Schaeffer 40 ½”
8. Kevin Mahlberg and Joel Michel 40 ¼”
9. Steve Doyen and Ralph Spurgeon 38 ¾”
10. Brian Emmerich and Brian Kastner 38 ¼”

Location: Waukesha & Land O Lakes, WI | Congrats to Dan Buss and Bob Chitty.....the season started kinda slow for those guys, but they had gained alot of momentum coming into the Invite and pulled out a great season.
