Posts: 462 Location: Madison Wi. Chain | I am curious about how some of you fish suckers and do you try anything out of the ordinary. I myself am thinking about going ultra shallow and using a bobber to keep the sucker on the surface and 20 feet behing the boat. Or rigging it with flouro and sevaral hooks and running it on the bottom.

Posts: 7038 Location: Northwest Chicago Burbs | I have used suckers as missles to warn others to stop cutting me off (Dourlain....Bukes!), and have been slapped with one. Thinking about your ideas: I know alot of guys run them shallow, but when I've tried they always find weeds, and I get mad at them. I would stay away from flouro for leader material for suckers. I know ALOT of guys use them on sucker rigs without a problem, but I also know that Norm Wild missed the Queen of Antigo Island when she ate through a floro leader. Instead, try the flexible/tie-able leader material from cortland or tyger leader.

I am experimenting this year with a "slip-bobber" type rig, in order to run 2 suckers off the same line. I am allowed only 4 hooks per bait/line, but using suckers in tandem, one high and one low, might be an answer to cover ALL depths....wherever they might be. Any ideas as to how this would work? Posts: 462 Location: Madison Wi. Chain | Neet idea Donnie, maybe like fly fishing when you use a dropper line and tie a fly to the leader above one of the knots. With suckers one weighted and on the bottom the other tied to the leader higher and free swimming. BG

BG... Exactly what I'm trying to accomplish...the hits I've had while running this, these past two years, has been if the hit was on the high bait, the deep bait was dragging around on the bottom. How do I set it up, so there is a release of some sort from the 2nd (deep) sucker, if I get a hit on the high sucker? When I got hits on the deep sucker, releasing the high sucker was easy!! Donnie :-O Donnie - Why do you need a release? Is there a problem in fighting the fish with both suckers on the line? Sure, it's not ideal, but I dont see any huge problems with it. Mojo, The only issue I've had was this...if I was fishing snaggly a$$ rocks, the claws would grab my sucker, while the muskie above was dragging the top sucker around...SO, it is a problem!! Donnie

JUST REMEBER WITH LIVE BAIT AND MULTIPLE HOOKS IN CANADA IT MEANS POINTS OF HOOKS NOT HOOKS MEANING A TREBLE COUNTS AS 3. YOU COULD GET AWAY WITH IT BY USING THE RUBBER BAND OR SIMILAR TYPE ATTACHMENT AS LONG AS IT IS NOT A HOOK NO MATTER WHAT SIZE EVEN THOUGH IT IS JUST USED TO ATTACHE THE NOSE OF THE SUCKER AND ONLY USING A DOUBLE HOOK MEANING CUTTING ONE HOOK OFF THE TREBLE,SAME THING IF YOU BEND A HOOK OF THE TREBLE TO ATTACHE THE TREBLE TO THE SUCKER AS PETE DOES ON HIS RIG,IT STILL HAS A BARB IN THIER OPINION. JUST DON'T WANT ANYONE GETTING INTO TROUBLE BECAUSE OF NOT HAVING PROPER KNOWLEDGE OF THE LAW..
