Posts: 376 Location: Lake Vermilion Tower, MN | Hi Guys, mikie asked me to give you all the first report of the trip. Under some really horrible windy and rainy conditions, I was able to put mikie on is first Mn Muskie, on his first day of fishing. Sorry Roz, although I was throwing one of your bucktails, we caught the "BIG girl" on a globe style topwater bait. The fish measured 48 inches, with a bulge in the middle, as mikie would say.I'll let him tell the story, but he wanted me to let everyone know, that he caught his largest to date on his first day in Minnesota. It was a real fatty that may have hit the 35lb mark. Mikie will get the photos up as soon as he can. "Ace"

Location: Athens, Ohio | Sorry to keep y'all waiting. I promised to keep updates, but when we got to papa Joe's he'd given his work computer back for an upgrade so we were without internet all week. Ace, you da man. Now, I thought you said 47 with a slump in the middel so that's what's on my MI form. As many of you know, I'm not a quarter inch fisherman, anyway. It was a #*^@ big fish, way heavy. Photos to follow shortly, I'm getting a roll developed now and then I'll do ssome scanning. I was sick as a dog all morning with a fever and broncitis. I was glad Ace was willing to fish in such awful conditions. The fish was so heavy and I was so weak, I sat down for the photo. Not my best work but it was the best we both could manage. Papa Joe put me on a three fish day last Wednesday, with a 45, a 40, and one I didn't measure but somewhere in the mid thirty range. Treats tried his best to get me a Tonka fish, I had one follow and he had one early on his birthday, then a couple more good strikes. We had a blast seeing him, PK, Jonesi, and Papa J during our trip. more later, just catching up on laundry and e-mail now. m

Location: Athens, Ohio | Here's a shot of the 47, my 45 from a metro lake, and Papa's 44. Note, also, the Snowcrest globe-style bait that I painted a horrible hot red. Gotta Thank Snowcrest6 for making such an awesome bait, I also got a mid 30's on it and had several rises to it. m Edited by mikie 10/1/2006 1:29 PM Attachments ---------------- metro45.jpg (58KB - 134 downloads) vermilionbigfish.jpg (32KB - 138 downloads) papa's44.jpg (41KB - 127 downloads) globefish.jpg (43KB - 118 downloads)

Posts: 5874 | WTG Mikie! You've come a long way since I first met you 5 years ago! You're not even measuring mid thirties fish anymore. Great job, and good report! That top fish is a real purty fish. Great markings.

Posts: 2384 Location: On the X that marks the mucky spot | Troy, We (I) got on on Friday. I also had one do it's best marlin imitation and throw my weagle. Had another one take a nice chunck out of the head of a spinnerbait too. It was pretty slow compared to how it was the prior month though...

Location: Athens, Ohio | Hey, Troy, Mauser sure had his chance. He got hit by a couple good fish but couldn't hang on. This June, I drove to the Wisconsin outing and he got the fish, so now he drove to Minnesota and I guess that's how it goes. We both had a great time and I can't thank Papa Joe enough for his hospitality. Being stuck between two chain smokers for the week is giving me withdrawals, anyone got a Camel? m
