| I am looking at a used boat with an 2000 Evinrude 90 DI. I've never dealt with a evenrude in the past the dealer is bragging it up but I thought this was about when evenrude and johnson had troubles because of the quality of their motors. What do you guys think of these motors? This one I'm looking at doesn't have alot of hours on it and hasn't been overheated or over 6000rpm so that stuff all looks ok but what is the history of these motors? |

Location: Chicago, Beverly | go to bass boat central and check out their johnny/rude forum.. if this motor is a ficht which you dont really say in your post(I would assume a DI is the Ficht) the '98-'99's were the ones with bad problems.. also, get the ssn off the motor and have a different johnny/rude dealer run that to see if any and all updates the motor may require have been done.. or you can post that info over on BBC and one of the guys there can run that info and check for you.. Ask Rusty63, Championman or seahorse as I think all three are johnny/rude dealers over there or work at dealers and have access to all info you need.. .. chances are if its got the required updates and has been maintained well you should have no issues with the motor especially if you take care of it once its yours... |

Location: Indianapolis, Indiana | I have a 2000 90hp Ficht and have not had any problems associated with the Ficht sysem. I had problems with the starter bendix and the T&T circuit board the second year but nothing since then. Runs great with great fuel economy, I recently ran 20 mi. round trip and trolled for 6 hrs. on 4 gal of gas  |
