Posts: 2378 | Anybody care to help me with this bait? When I reel it fast enough to where it sounds good it rolls over like nobodys business. Reeling it slow enough so it doesnt roll, and it doesnt sound like it should. Can I tune it somehow? Did I get a bad one? BNelson, I know you fish these alot...care to give me some advice?

Posts: 2427 Location: Ft. Wayne Indiana | cup the prop more, and reel it slow. Better results worked slow.

You can reel it fast and keep the great sound. As suggested just adjust the blade to prevent the body roll. These are great baits

Posts: 2024 | I had the same problem. I added a bell sinker to the front hook hanger. I was having problems with it plunging though on long casts and diving into waves in medium chop with the added weight. I will try the cupping, too, as this is far to good a bait to toss aside. Thanks.

cup the blade like others have said..another trick is looking down on the bait, take the shaft coming out of the prop and bend it slightly to the left i believe..when the blade is cupped properly you get a good "pop" but you can't reel them in very fast..I don't reel mine very fast...if it is rolling you are more than likely reeling it in too fast...I'd call these baits best at medium to med/slow retrieve... great baits and I have gone thru 3 now getting mauled up by ski's...love the loon color....

I must admit to having a few of my Choppers out there with rolling problems. I did build some of them in the last year with rivits in the tail section instead of the brass tubing I used at first and which I use again now. Some of the aluminum rivits caused too much friction and would make some of them roll. I have gone back to the brass tubing and would be happy to fix or replace anyone having trouble with theirs. Feel free to either send me the bait or drop it off to me at any of the sports shows this winter and I will make sure that it is working properly!!! I will also include my new secret modification to the Chopper at your request! I apoligize for any dissapointments and will make it right. Thanks for your input and the stories of big fish that have come on my baits. I will settle for nothing but the highest quality! Well, back to the "big pond". See ya in December! Posts: 101 Location: Liberty, IN (OKI Tri-State) | Hey Lee, Just wanted to let you know the Oberfoell & Clark caught two of only fifteen fish registered & took 2nd Place (barely missing the Top Honors) @ the PMTT Qualifier on Vermillion this past weekend ... sticking their "kicker fish" in calmer waters; using the Lee's Chopper! Good looking bait my friend, and one that is really working well for some decent anglers. ![]() Best of luck and continued success, I will look to see you at a couple of the Shows this year.
