I am wondering if anyone knows of a provider that has decent coverage in/around the Mille Lacs area? Also need to use it in the metro area as well. Any info would be appreciated-very tired of the dreaded dropped calls!!!!!

I have Sprint...quality of coverage depends on the part of the lake I'm on (West is good, closer to 169; East gets pretty sketchy, especially in the SE corner of the lake)

My buddy has Verizon and it's about the same.

I've got Verizon myself, my folks have a cabin up there, and i get great signal and I've been all over the lake and the county area. I think it also depends on what phone you get to, some phone are just flat out JUNK!

US Cellular worked everywhere but IN the Garrison Hotel and Suites. I called the data in for the Live Leaderboard from Hunter's Point, no problem.

I have Team Mobile and at least in Vineland area - I have had 5 bars coverage. I did not check it on the North side yet. It seems the coverage has not been as spectacular on dry land - not sure if that is an issue or not for you though

I have Verizon and it seems to work all over the lake for me.

The downside is I have never had so many dropped calls since I switched over to them.

I would not recommend Verizon to my worst enemy, but that's just my opinion.

Like someone already stated I think it has more to do with the phone. I recently received a new LG flip-phone from Verizon and the coverage sucks. I'm on the north side and can barely make a phone call. And when I do make a phone call it is usually dropped. You can see the signal strength going up and down, really weird. With my old non-flip Nokia I had no problems at all making phone calls. After numerous trips to the Verizon store and several calls to customer service, I'm very close to paying the fee of ending the contract early. I cannot make phone calls from my house and I even drop calls in DT Minneapolis...not good for business.

The strange thing is that I was up in the Superior National Forest last week and had awesome coverage waaaaay back in the woods.

re: Verizon

try *228 , then 1 when asked ( phone programming)

*228 , then 2 when asked ( roaming capabilities )

Like I said I've been to the Verizon store and called customer service many times. I've done the *228 several times with no change in my coverage.
