Muskie Fishing -> Fishing Reports and Destinations -> NE Metro Report

OK boys and girls, it's about time we start a Metro report on this new site as the reports on Musky Hunter have diminished tremendously.

I have been fishing WBL fairly often the past couple weeks. Have only a 39" and a really small one to report. Besides those, nothing but small follows.

Anybody else having luck on Baldy, WBL, or Forest?

Been a little quiet on the metro reporting. Is everyone a little hesitant to provide info this year because fishing has been slower than last? Things are picking up again. Most metro lakes I've been to lately have produced something. Water temps on Tonka about 66 degrees today. Freaking zoo out there with the PMTT coming Saturday. People parking in the small canals sideways or blasting th eno wake areas. I won't say what state they are from....
Anyway, things are looking up. Get out there.

I was on Forest this morning. Other than the fact I did not see a fish, it was nice not to have a dozen or so boats all over the spots I wanted to try.

Still lots of green weeds and floaters on the lakes. The water temps over most of the lake were 62 - 63 degress before the storm hit about 4-5 hours before the great weather people in the Twin Cities predicted.

I used mainly phantoms, hughes rivers, and buchertails with little success.

Still felt good to get out.

I fished Waconia this morning. Water was 63 degrees. I had one follow and one strike on a Hog Wobbler. The lightning was serious and the rain kept up until now when the sun came out. I counted tooo much on the accuracy of the forecast. Caught a 39" on Lake Independence. It sure is nice to be on the water. Can anyone give me any suggestions about fishing Lake Harriet?

Fished WB once last week. Jackpots, vipers moved several mid 30's to low 40's but no hookups - it's been the same for me all year, big swirl, big red tail, no fish. Fish were in shallow weeds. [:((]

Put in 8 hrs on WB over the weekend - got a huge smallie and a big pike but only one mid-30's ski followed. Pounded the shallow areas where the pike and bass were going but nada for skis. Only follow came on a 10" Jake over 20' of water adjacent to a drop-off.

So much for the full moon weekend. [:0]
