Location: Hugo, MN | I'd say it really depends upon the body of water. There are many more factors other than color such as forage what do the Muskies feed on, Structure, etc. With that said here's an EXCELLENT article from the Mepps website on color with some great examples of how stained waters affect color of lure. http://www.mepps.com/mepps/library/article.asp?ID=77

| Musky Hunter Magazine had the same thing a while back (last year???) where they had a picture of a selection of popular lures in popular colors and showed what they looked like under various water color situations.
When I fish the red / brown stained water of flowages, I usually use copper colored lures. |

I like orange, black, gold, and chartreuse combinations in those colors, and ...red... |

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | And keep in mind the effect of anthropomorphism. Muskies don't have the same vision system we do. Also keep in mind that available light underwater is a HUGE variable, and there IS no color without light. |

Location: oswego, il | I would consider moose lake in hayward fairly red stained. Chartruse and white are two colors I like in stained water too. |

| Most of the MN iron range lakes are stained red. I have had good luck with chartruse, and fire tiger. Look for a big flash from bucktails and spinnerbaits.

Location: ohio | The upper french was more tea colored than red, however we didnt do very well so i cant comment on what color lure to use,,,,
usually where i fish the water is greenish blue ,clear or muddy, have alot of luck with the fire tiger color and orange w/black stripes lures..... |

I like orange, black, gold, and chartreuse combinations in those colors, and ...red... the ile acsess at mille lacs the river that runs into it make the acsses red and ive seen ppl get nice fish right by there
