i was hoping for some help for someones first time on mille lacs. 3 of use were thinking about going in the end of Oct. any info would help on what parts to fish, what colors and types of lures to use. how about casting or trolling what are the water temps and weather normally like and anything else you think would help a person to a new lake.any help would be great.

It's windy and cold. Be prepared for 3-4 footers. Trolling cranks or casting Dawgs. Fish rocks, rocks and more rocks.

Good luck

Of course now I'm biased, but if I had 3-4 days, I'd get myself into Steve Jonesi's schedule book (Thrill of the Hunt Guide Service http://www.stevejonesi.com ) for the first day of the trip. You will learn more about the idiosyncrasies of that lake in a day w/ him than you can imagine. You'll have a great time learning about it too.

Bring a heater and a wide angle lens for your camera.
