| This is directed more to Mr. Worrall, but if anybody alse can help all the better. I've been looking at rods and reels for fishing creatures, but can't quite seem to decide what to get. What is the best set-up for fishing plastics, including line preferance? What colors produce best for creatures?

| Cisco, I've been using plastic dressings for years and have picked up a lot of it from Steve, Spence and Tony Portincaso.Literally, a book could be written.I use 2 combos for fishing musky jigs.Don't worry about brand as much as action .Currently i'm using a Loomis SJR844 for some of the smaller ,lighter stuff and early season.( IMX series). The reel is a Shimano Sustain 4000 spooled with 40lb. Tuff Line XP.A very expensive combo but I didn't pay retail.(thank GOD)The second outfit is a FSR906x also from Loomis. It is a 7'6" flippin stick with more than enough muscle for toothy critters. The reel is a Calcutta 250 spooled with 50lb.Tuff Line XP.I love the superlines for fishin jigs.Get ahold of Jacks Jigs out of Milwaukee.I 've been using their stuff a long time and in my opinion make the best muskie jigheads around. Can't wait to try Bait Rigs new Esox Jigs also. You've got a lure for all seasons with a jig.Good luck!!! | I use a medium heavy 7' IM6 or IM8 spinning rod and a Mitchell TI or comparable reel. I don't like the superlines for creature fishing, I miss too many fish setting the hook too fast.
Spool the reel with 17# mono, tie on a 60# seven strand leader, and you are ready to go.
The reason I use spinning tackle:
The spool on a spinning reel is MUCH larger in diameter than a casting reel, so a 5.2 to 1 retrieve will be faster spinning VS casting reels. The faster the uptake of line, the better.
Read the creature articles in the article section if you haven't yet, I go into a bit of detail there.
Hope this helps!![] |

| I use a couple of different combos.
I have a spinning outfit that consists of a 7 1/2' casting rod blank converted to a spinning rod. A Quantum spooled with 14# Stren.
For baitcasting, I use the same 8'ers that I use for bucktails. A Daiwa Millionaire spooled with 17# Stren.
For colors, I like black/ purple and chameleon.
