Posts: 117 | Hey Guys, This is my first post and I am glad I signed on with you guys to read your posts and to pick your brains a bit.. Actually I want to pick your brains a bit cause I am new to Muskie fishing but a seasoned angler for bass. I have been to Canada twice to go northern pike fishing in Frotenac County in Ontario. The fishing is nothing like Pennsylvania (which is where I am from), in fact so many fish at the end of the days you don’t remember how many you caught. The thing is I live in Philadelphia and all the lakes, even in the northern counties of bucks are out fished by constant angler pressure. From what I hear as well is that the Delaware river Muskie population has decreased to nothing, at one time the Muskies were strong (This is hearsay though). My question to you guys is what would be a great destination (In Canada Or PA) that would be a meaningful trip to catch Numerous Muskies? Ofcourse I think I would like to take a week at the destination, get a guide, learn some pointers and start fishing for the remainder of the week. Any and all info you guys can throw my way (besides to move out of Philly :-P ) would be appreciated. Thanks allot guys!

Posts: 194 | Can't go wrong with Scott Kieper. He fishes the hayward, WI area. Last I heard he had caught over 75 muskies for the season, and that was back in mid-July. (715) 865-MSKE (6753) Low rates, long trips, and big fish. Awesome teacher for a fellow student of the sport.

Posts: 194 Location: Southwest PA | Close to home you have the Susquehanna River. If your not opposed to a little bit of traveling hit the northwestern portion of the state. Put the Allegheny River at the top of the list, but there are numerous lakes and creeks in this portion of the state that have a good population of fish. Most lakes and rivers get alot of pressure during the summer, not much you can do about that. I would suggest hitting some of the waters close to home in the fall and winter when there isnt as much fishing pressure. Try to attend one of the meeting of the Penn Jersey or the New Jersey Chapter of Muskie Inc. Rich W
