Hi guys ,I just finished painting up a couple trip Ds and want to know if bar/tabletop epoxy is ok to use for a final clear . They are painted with automotive basecoat and have 2 coats of urethane clear on them.
Whats the best way to apply the epoxy ,(dipping, brushing , or pouring it on)?
Do I need the epoxy?
If I use epoxy do i have to spin the baits?

Thanks

Dave

I think two coats of urethane clear would work well. I would be afraid etex might add weight that you dont want to the baits but if you want to try it, hang them by the line tow and brush on a coat and hang them. Extra will drip off and give you a thin light coat. Within 24 hours do it again, this will give two light coats that with the clear already on will be really strong. While the baits are drying and dripping, remove the bubbles by blowing on them or waving a hair dryer over them. You can use a torch but you need to be carefull not to burn them and the other two ways will work well enough you should not have to use a torch.......Good Luck.........Doug

Thanks Doug, I hung the hardware on theese two so I'm calling them done(no epoxy). I think I will practice on an old bait first.
I picked up a couple DDDs and DDs at kurts in Minocqua With beautiful paint on them and they were epoxied . The trips work as well as stock ,the double sinks slowly and has a great suicide turn when you twitch it.

I'll try to post a pic of the 2 I painted.

Thanks again for the help

Dave
