Nice Article on the sizes of Muskie in Green Bay and the potential for a World Record.

I liked the article. I was smallie fishing in Sturgeon Bay over the Memorial Day weekend and saw a guy Muskie fishing by himself. After hearing some hootin and hollerin I turned to witness him net a very impresive, chunky, 46" Great Lakes Muskie.

After seeing pictures and talking to local guides, it gets you wondering if a world record may be lurking in the Bay??

If you read the article carefully it looks as though the DNR is actually saying that the likelyhood of a record is NOT actually very good . The fishery is impressive - but the facts are the facts. Before you post to object please re-read the article thoroughly.

The only thing that is a fact is that the muskies are growing very fast and heavy there.

There are no facts, just speculation, about what they will top out at. Sure there may be data from other waters about growth and life spans, but that can't be accurately applied to Green Bay.

Did you know Kevin is leaving Green Bay to pursue his doctorate out East. It sucks to loose such a valuable person for our local musky program. He said that he proposed to stay and work on his doctorate here but the WDNR put him off and said it would be a few years before they could provide that. So he's packing his bags.

It's fun to dream... Are there any studies that show muskies continue to grow longer their entire life? I was under the impression that a muskie's maximum length was reached well before it's max age. Kind-of like most people reach their max height by age 20 and then live 60-80 more years at that height as our weight varies. It seems unrealistic to think that a 20 year old muskie will be any longer than a 15 year old one, but I'd buy that its weight will likely have seasonal fluctuations. Any fish biologists out there?

Yup, and I gotta get a boat, now, too! hehehe Not to worry, I still have the pattern, and the secret baits, and the fish ain't going nowhere! And the boat should be in the mold in a week. But my biggest decision is trying to decide if I want to fish MN rules in the October Tourney.
