Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | The Goon is clearing up more and moe every year. One can see a follow no problem, I'd say average is 3'. Clarity depends on wind and rain, too. It's just suspended clay particulate, and the low light penetration makes the shallow bite even better. Walleyes are plentiful, and can be VERY big, Pike too. Bass are good to great, up to 5#. It's a very unique body of water, offering opportunity for trophy fish AND good numbers, all species.
Butler and the other smaller lakes attached are good day trips for all species, and are clear.
Indian Point Camp is the place to stay, good folks and a perfect location no matter the wind. I have a map in camp all marked up, with additional notes from the MuskieFIRST outings there.
