Location: Northern Illinois | Best Small Lake is Lake Wingra. You don't need a guide to fish it because of its size but it has an unbelievable amount of fish in it. I've lost a couple fish in the mid 40s and have caught many fish 35-40. Its definitely the spot to fish with a small boat.
Hope this helps, |

Location: Yahara River Chain | MuskyJay, if you are going to hire a guide for Madison, (& lambeau named the most of them), let your guide pick the lake. Maybe he has a bite going on a large lake and can put you on a larger & more muskies? Let him "guide" you.
If you need more names, I'm sure I can think of a few more. |
