| I thought I had a deal or two finalized to get three of these lures painted, but circumstances wouldn't allow it to happen. I'm looking for a somewhat unique pattern, and a cost of $5.00-$8.00 per bait. I would not need them done for a while, but I'd like to lock into a deal with someone. I'd have them available in early June or so. Anyone want to give it a shot? Thanks.

| I have to admit that I'm not sure who I had talked to, but the price was around $12.00 per bait. That was a bit out of my budget. If you can do the job for 5-8 bucks a piece, that would be great. You can send me a PM with details about where to send the baits and such. Thanks. |

| I don't want to sound like a dick, but I've been accused of it before, so here goes anyway. I paint, strip and paint, strip,repair and paint lots of lures each year. Every year I have guys tell me that I'm nuts to want $25 to redo a lure. OK, lets break it down.....stripping and sanding the lure, 2 coats of primer, paint that costs $10 an ounce and 2 coats of Envirotex that cost $55 gallon....not to mention my time, overhead and intangables. Guys that understand that they are going to get a quality job have never made a stink about it, but even doing a new blank takes time and material, and I don't think that bait painters should be expected to work "as a labor of love", as it's been said. Even at minimum wage, you guys that can paint a lure for less than 15 bucks can do them all, and I know there are guys that do it. I'm not knocking you, believe me. I just don't see how it is profitable.
I had to miss a weekend away with my wife and daughter because I have lures to paint. Put a price on that. "Are you sure you can't come, Daddy?"
It shouldn't be a "labor of love", though we make it seem that way sometimes.

Location: Oregon | I personally don't redo lures because I can build one from scratch faster. Tearing off old paint and clear is major hassle! What you are paying for when you have someone refinish a bait is their time, it's a slow process.
The pattern you want painted tho is easy....not a dificult paint pattern at all. You might think about stripping the lures yourself, sanding, priming, and then find someone to paint and clear them for you.

| There seems to be some confusion here.
I carve these lures myself, and would need the bare wood painted. The lure in the photo is just an example of a bait that I had Todd Cleveland paint for me a while back. I'm just looking for primer, paint, and clear coat. Sorry if I didn't make that clear earlier. |

Location: Muskoka Ontario,Canada | Believe me, I can relate to the time involved in doing repaints! Imagine how long it takes me to do all those little details I put on mine! You can't put a price on what it's really worth but it is kinda cool painting other baits than my own from time to time. |
