Posts: 16632 Location: The desert | Ok, so a night in the ER with a tonsel cutting off my air flow would probably cause a few people to take a few days off from fishing. Then finding out you have mononucleosis would probably keep a bunch of guys off the water. Could the complete soaking in the river after falling in for, yes, the second time have anything to do with the swolen tonsel sending me to the ER...well maybe, but I did catch 14 walleyes before falling in, and one keeper. I was told to "take it easy" by my mom while still in the hospital....this meant NO FISHING!! So I asked the nurse if fishing was considered "taking it easy" she seemed to think that it wouldnt be a problem.....GOOD ENOUGH FOR ME!! Went out for about 2 hours today and landed 16 walleyes in about 2 hours, with 3 keepers, but only brought 1 home. Perhaps I can use this sickness to get out of more classes and hit the very hot walleye bite!! Hopefully I get better soon, and keep catching walleyes, wouldnt mind an accidental musky either! Say a prayer of healing and good fishing for me! Mike

Posts: 2865 Location: Brookfield, WI | Mono-The kissing disease. Pointer's got a girlfriend. Seriously though, I have a brand new Knipex. They've never seen a musky, so they're sanitary. I could take care of that tonsil for you. No charge. You have to supply the anesthetic. I recommend tequila. Kevin Simple medical procedures as part of the plan.

Posts: 2865 Location: Brookfield, WI | Mike, As my new side career in minor surgery is just beginning, all you have to do is alert me to your next visit to your Hartland home. 15 minutes west on Hwy 16 and I'm there. Actually, you should maybe meet at Smokey's. I'll hire Koepp for the day. I'll remove your tonsils in his Ranger (I think I'll be most comfortable operating out of a top of the line boat), we'll keep fishing, and maybe we'll cut some hooks with the Knipex not long after your procedure. Bring some cotton balls with the Tequila, because we might need to shove a wad of them in your throat. I don't know how much bleeding there will be. Anybody ever use tonsils for bait? Kevin Multi-tasking as part of the plan. Edited by MuskyHopeful 4/8/2006 10:33 AM

Posts: 16632 Location: The desert | Sounds good to me!! LOL! I wont be back till the walleyes stop biting though....they are ferocious little beasts out there these days! Perhaps a very sharp filet knife would work better on the tonsels? Mike

Posts: 2865 Location: Brookfield, WI | Mike, I'll answer your question with a question. If you went to your regular doctor and he was going to check your reflexes, would you say "hey doc, maybe a ball peen hammer would work better than that little rubber thing?" Leave the equipment choices to the experts. Kevin Bored with the plan, maybe I'll have a few drinks.

Posts: 16632 Location: The desert | My appologies sir, did not mean to insult your intelegence. Knipex it is! However the walleye bite is far from over so no surgery for me for at least a few days. Got 17 today in just over an hour. Ibuprofin seems to be handling the tonsels for now, but I cant wait for my "surgery"! I get to fish that day dont I?? Mike

Posts: 2091 Location: Stevens Point, WI | We've seen a lot of mono lately, so you are not the only one. It really takes a lot out of you. I must have just missed seeing you in the ER I worked till 3:00pm on Friday. Get well!!

Posts: 16632 Location: The desert | Yeah, this mono wouldnt be so bad if this tonsel would stop swelling. I could cut this thing out and play a few holes at the masters with it! Just huge and annoying! Mike
