| temps 49-52 in am, but with warming today around 70 and breeze going, eased into Claylick around 3:30 and recorded 57, obviously from warm water blowing into and stacking in the cove(however, most pm temps in 51.4-54 degree range). I expected the fish to be very active in there but they were not, possibly because of the 5 boats that were already in there, and the two loading out and the two new ones getting ready to launch? Naww, I just didn't find the right bait probably. Water condition is low and really a little too clear for my taste at this time of year, but very fishhable. Raised two fish off of outer weed edges on pull baits, both running up very late, one hitting that I bounced off and one not hitting but coming hard and high enough to rip the surface before going away. Both came out of gaps in the heavier darker weedline but appeared to come from 2 foot high fresh weed in about 5-6 feet. No fish seen on the heavier darker taller weedbeds. Neither fish looked gravid, maybe 35 on the biggest of the two. Lots of bass and crappie guys out. Saw 1 pregnant bass in the 3 lb range. Action has been quite slow recently, in the vicinity of 1 fish per 2-3 man days of fishing. Some on rattletraps some on jerks. Warm spell predicted for the next 5 days should push the fish to spawn soon, don't know if muskies will hold eggs for the full moon or not. If they haven't spawned yet, warming for 2 days, and tomorrows rain should bring some pretty good activity, tomorrow.
The forecasted "partly cloudy" for the day, somehow never materialized, and that may have slowed things down some. Did not see any fish in coves, both on transitional, "travelling" weedlines. Bass was out of a treetop on a point.
Quit early, tomorrow is another day, and...another lake.
