| I am always amazed that the footware industry is not aware of the needs of the fresh and saltwater angler. They pay tremendous attention to the hunter's needs, but seem to ignore the angler. I am wearing a pair of Remington Dri Lex shoes that are OK, but not good for 14 hours of standing on my poor 50 year old pegs.
What have you found to be the best footwear? |

| Unless the cold is really setting in, and I have to go with the boots (which kill my feets), I go with a pair of running shoes. If they're made to run miles in, they should be good enough to stand in....at least thats the best theory the hamsters that run my brain can think of right now.

| I've opted for some walking shoes that have a wider sole. I need help keeping my balance.
The occupatioal therapist at the 'Spinecare' clinic that I went to suggested them. She also suggested that if I'm going to spend hours standing in a boat throwing lures around, that concentrating on 'sucking your gut in' as much as possible will help strengthen your core muscles and take alot of pressure off of your lower back and legs.
We should get her for a chat guest.

| I have three choices...when the weathers really warm I like sandals, normally I use airwalks or vans...very comfortable shoes and when its cold I wear my CAT steel toed shoes, which are pretty warm and comfortable. |

| I wear wolverine durashocks,they cost about 100 bucks or so ,but are well worth the money.I used to install heating and ac equipment ,and my back was always hurting ,so a freind said try a better boot and sure enough ,the rest is history.Just like fishing gear ,cheap is not always the answer.

| Funny you should mention fishing footwear - just yesterday I noticed that the new Cabelas catalog has ads for "Striper Angler", "Anglers" and "Extreme Gor-Tex Anglers" all made by Irish Setter boots. It struck me that this was the first time I had ever seen high quality footwear targeted to non-wading fisherfolks, and here you're asking about it. Like you I'm planning for summer and was thinking sturdy, practical footwear, too. I think I'm going to go with uninsulated, ankle-high gor-tex hiking boots. Waterproof but they breathe, tolerable during the sunny daytime and warm in the cool of the nighttime. Good support for hours and hours of thrashing the water for mr. musky. |

| Steve, I used to have problems with my feet until I started wearing New Balance shoes. They are the most comfortable shoes and waterproof boots I have ever worn. They come in widths to 4E. Try them and let me know if they help your old dogs. |

| fishkopp is right on the money with the Wolverine Durashocks. I have a pair of durashocks that are totally waterproof. They are the lightest and most comfortable boots I have ever had on. No problem standing in them all day long. In warmer weather i opt for Nikes' or sandles.

| Lol ANON....I know who you are too![;)] I have a pair of shoes Mee-Maw gave me 12 yrs ago....one of the heels broke off but they are comfortable + easily repaired w/ duct tape...they aren't "ruby slippers" but still look good w/ madras knee length shorts, a flannel shirt + white crew socks...add a Popiel Pocket Fisherman + wicker creel + grab the camera! [:sun:] |

| I will jump on the band wagon and say the wolverine dura shocks. They save my back at work and on the water.

| New Balance in the Summer, Walkport walkers that are waterproof in the late Summer early Fall, Rocky Bear Claws at the Rollie and Helens Fall Tourney two years in a row now. Brrrrrr snowy and cold.

| Cool weather I usually wear Rocky Eliminators or Rocky Outbacks, nice warm weather you'll usually find me wearing Birkenstock sandal, nothing more comfortable than some Jerusalem Cruisers. I wear Birkenstock clogs at work and they are the most comfortable footware in the world. |

| I would definitely recommend New Balance for gym shoes, wolverines for cold winter time conditions and merrel for the fall and spring. For the summer bare foot or addidas sandals. Sandals are definitely the best though.

| I use my everyday reeboks walking shoes and will add homemade wool soxs in November when it gets cold out. Only when it's raining or snowing will I wear boots. |

| I have a pair of Irish Setter Boots by Red Wing; good boots, but too heavy for the summer. I will try the recommendations here, and get me a new pair of SHOES!! |
