Location: Richland Center, WI. | Does anyone use the 30 minute Devcon as a topcoat on wood lures? I tried to coat a musky sized lure and got a lot of what looked like air bubbles in the top coat. I tried to heat it with a hair drier and the paint thinned out but seemed to cause more air buubles. Any ideas? |

Location: Des Moines IA | Devcon is mostly used for smaller sized bass lures as I understand. I would suggest Envirotex lite. Found @ menards. CO2 is what makes the air bubbles go away not the heat. You don't need to actually heat up the epoxy to get rid of the bubbles. Hope this helps. |

Location: Pewaukee WI | Hey Hunter,
Mike is right on this also try stiring it really slow when mixing. Devcon is the way to go if you only have a few baits to do. Drys a lot faster than most of the bar tops epoxys and cheaper. Drys harder than anyting I've used but it will crack if you hit something.

| Devcon also will discolor from exposure to sunlight, plan on it. Look for a product with a UV inhibitor. |

Location: Richland Center, WI. | So much for stirring slower. Went to our local Wal Mart and they were all out. Must be something to this 2 ton. Hummmm? |

| Well, Finally got some more Devcon and gave it another try. I used a paperclip for a stirrer and stirred it in the bottom of an empty pop can and it worked great! No bubbles and it flowed out great. Before I mixed it on a piece of cardboard and used a popsickle stick. Thanks for all the help guys. |

Location: Des Moines IA | The wood stir stck soaks up the hardner faster then the resin, thus making the 2 part mix not very equal. Stick with metal stir sticks. I actually use a coat hanger bent to a T at the end in a drill. I mix up the E-Tex real good, then add some epoxy thinner and mix it in. Let it sit for a minte til most of the bubbles are gone, then start applying it. If it starts to get tacky, add a little more thinner, and blend it in, it slows the chemical reaction down and prolongs working time. Make sure you use the 30 minute version of hte 2 ton also. The 5 minute stuff dries way too fast for a topcoat.
