I was just wondering how thick the ice was on the Illinois lakes because it has been pretty warm lately and the snow is melting like crazy, is it likely that I could be fishing tomorrow? (I'm not talking about ice fishing either[:praise:] )

From what i have heard, there still is a few inches at least on the lakes. Some of the shorelines have gotten dangerous though.

Esox, the ice looks to me like it's going to be gone soon. I don't see any safe ice.

Many of the lakes that I've seen, the ice is starting to melt. Lots of open spots and many more should be occuring with this "heat wave" were getting(LOL). I'll try and check tomorrow and give you an update. By the way, I live in Northern Illinois.
