1 of my two deep cycle batteries isn't holding a charge. I've check the water levels and they are fine. I'm guessing 1 or more cells have gone bad.

Do I have to replace both batteries or just match the new battery with the 1 "good" battery?

It has been my experience that much like light bulbs when one goes out the rest will soon follow, I would say replace them both then you should be able to fish Battery worry free

Replace both as the weakest battery will draw from the other untill they are equal and shorten the life of the new battery.

Thanks for the replies guys. Not the answer I was hoping for. I guess I'll have to shell out the extra $'s. Seems a shame to turn in a good battery.

I like to put the date I buy my replacements on the label on the top of the battery in marker. This way I always know how old it is.
