I am trying to determine where the most state-of-the-art muskie hatchery is located in the U.S. or Canada. Anybody know?

I didn't think that the Canadians raised fish.

I know that the Bemidji MN DNR facility was just upgraded to a 2 tear drainable pond. This has increased their yield by 10-20%. We're looking into what would need to happen to upgrade all of our facilities.

The Governor Tommy Thompson State Fish Hatchery in Spooner, Wisconsin, is the largest, most modern muskellunge hatchery in the world.

Many thanks, gentlemen. Think I would like to visit that Spooner, Wisconsin hatchery? Anyone know who I might contact or how?

Our Lake Chautauqua, New York muskie hatchery was the very first one we know of in the United States, but it is very, very OLD --- nowhere near what one could call a "Modern Muskie Hatchery". As I prepare to begin to lobby for additional funding in our State Capital (to upgrade & modernize"). I'd certainly like to know much more of what I speak before actually speaking (if you know what I mean?). Any advice?

Once again, this message board is worth its weight in gold (for incredible span of knowledge and contacts in the muskie-specific world). Thank you, gentlemen.

Don't forget about the newly rebuilt Wild Rose Facility. It is very impressive, but not hatching muskies yet because of the VHS crap. They put almost 32 million into this place and all the new acres of musky ponds are sitting empty. There are plans to get 3-4 inch fish (because they can test for VHS on fish this size) from lower Michigan sometime this summer to finish raising them. This will only be enough to put water in one of the many ponds though. The WDNR needs to get off their butts and figure out this VHS thing. The Green Bay watershed musky restoration project needs to continue and it hasn't recieved any substantial quantities of fish for many years now. There is a huge void in year classes and it just conitnues to grow.

The Salmonoid side of Wild Rose is very impressive and going at normal capacity.
