| anybody ever see a jointed suick?
did Suick make any of these (even prototype)? or is this an aftermarket mod?

| i don't know...it's from my brother-in-law's grandpa's tacklebox. couldn't get more than a picture!
my guess would be that it won't "back out" of heavy cover properly, but might be interesting off the edges.
i think i might hack a spare Suick in half and see what it does.

| Just talked to Grandpa and he told me he bought the Jointed Suick from John around 1970 or so, he is 83 and 1960-1980 are like same time period for him. He said working the jointed suick took some time getting it to run right, "just like breaking a new money bag (heifer), once she and you get the rythm she produces". I recall making trips every summer to Pelican and every year stopping in Antigo and Grandpa getting Suicks, some times five gallon buckets full, rejects, exc. He gave me his Suick bait box this fall which contains around 40 Suick and Bobbie Baits ranging from 7-10 inches. Grandpa's father and Grandpa's lifelong fishing partner "Old" Ortiz caught many a muskie on Pelican and fished the lake since the 40's and exclusively used Suicks. He has some classic old photos, some with his Dad with the pipe and derby pants, with muskies (up to six) strung like walleyes from a board, actually think it was a widdled down pine log,. I was fortunate to have inherited some history and many memories fishing with him on Pelican, Turtle Flambeau, and Chippewa Flowage. |

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Sure lambeau, I could bring the camera. What was Mr. Ortiz's first name? I knew him, I think, as he used to fish Pelican quite a bit until his untimely passing of a brain tumor or some similar malady. He had a unique speech pattern, and was one hell on wheels of a Muskie Man. I remember him being a Suick only guy, too. |

| Steve, you did know him, Bob Ortiz (his son Bill fishes the PWT) and my grandfather as well, Donald Thomas Mineral Point WI, they religiously fished Pelican every weekend they could. I just talked to Grandpa today and said he remembers, "name sounds very familiar, getting to #*^@ old to remember names, you and several other of the "usual Pelican" fisherman. It was funny he said, with the upmost modesty of course, that he and Bob were the "main musky men" of the lake and frequently would have to "lose" other fisherman that followed them around . Bob made his own fiberglass boat "heavy old beast" they fished out of and were regulars of the Pelican Tourneys, he talks of the tagged fish that would be released and how fortunate he was to catch one. He said his biggest tourney purse was like $500 and the entry fee was $5 or $10. The biggest fish Grandpa ever caught was a 40# the day before a tourney while pre-fishing, Suick of course. Those two were loyal Suick users and I remember the "tuning" lessons he would give me when I was smaller than most muskies in the lake, the bending and twisting of the tail fin was a art and they did it incredibly well. |

Location: Belgium | I'm pretty sure the jointed suick is a home project. I have studied into the history of many jerkbaits over the past years and jointed bobbie baits etc have come up. They were all home made projects. Anyway, the jointed bobbie baits never worked so I am interested in seeing this jointed suick work in the pool demo's before I ruin one of my own. |

I keep loosing fish on it??
Not sure if it's a basement job or it was sold this way. would be cool to know for sure.
