Posts: 2754 Location: Mauston, Wisconsin | The new 2006 Zam's just got released from US Customs in Chicago-almost two months. It's been a struggle for some reason that neither I or Mike can figure out. Hopefully, the next shipments will be easier. Do you think the new 22CM/~8.7" will get their attention? The little one 11CM/4.3" is also new for 2006. This one definitely is a must have, if you fish for walleye's. Unfortunately due to Mike's health and my work schedule the only fishing show we're doing this year is the Madison Fishing Expo. Posts: 2754 Location: Mauston, Wisconsin | Derek- The problem you are alluding to was/has been resolved within a month or so of being reported (I might say it was reported via the same method you just used- a post on muskiefirst), i.e., in early 2003. I broke/cracked two myself hitting rocks and had already reported the problem to Zalt AS. Investigation determined the material was to brittle. In fact I personnally hand delivered replacements to MuskieE.The material formula was subsequently changed. However, no manufacturer of a hollow body lure will guarantee that it's indestructable. If you need that you would be much better off investing in casting lessons first. With respect to how tough this new lure is- we just recieved the shipment, so I can't say from practical experience. However, because it's the same new material formulation, I don't expect any issues. Common sense says if you hit any lure on hard objects, like rocks, bridge pilings, docks etc. you need to inspect it for damage. Needless to say we have been and will always take field failures of any product very seriously and we value feedback from our customers. Both Mike and I are experienced multi-species fisherman, whom believe in only offering a quality product that we ourselves would not hesitate to use. Our main criteria for any of our lures is it's ability to catch fish, i.e., we use what we sell. Both I and Mike are very sorry that MuskieE lost a lunker of a life time. It had to be a horrible feeling. However there is nothing we can do to change that moment in time. But we also hope he has another opportunity to catch that lunker of a life time in 2006 with one of the improved original 16CM Zam's, or one of our other new products like the new 22 CM Zam. Me and the man above, both know I hit many rocks even trees jump in the way,when fishing the river and if a lure happens to break, it is most usually due to how I am treating it and that is rough. But than the fish chew it up a bit too. Most of the time if I miss a lunker, it's because I am paying too much attention to the pretty color of the lure and don't see the "big one" follow it in till it almost torpedoes my boat. One would think I would learn by now. Ask my freind Jim Bortz, he has "chewed" me many times for watching the color and not behind it.  Good looking lure Al.
