Posts: 2865 Location: Brookfield, WI | John, You posted on the pizza thread a while back on the 101 board. I like thin crust pizza, though you had talked about Lou Malnatti's. Someone else had mentioned a Barnaby's in Hoffman Estates for thin crust, but I could only find listings in Schaumburg and Northbrook. Is there one realtively close to the show? Sorry, I have to disagree about anchovies. I love 'em. Sausage, anchovies, light hot peppers, light sauce; perfect. Thanks, Kevin

Posts: 1769 Location: Algonquin, ILL | Barnabys is in Schaumburg, Shaumburg and Hoffman Est. boarders are so jagged it's nuts and easy to get the town wrong But If you like Thin Crust Barnaby's is a good choice and close to the show, Another option would be Giarbaldis which is next door to where the Swap Meet will be on Sat Night, or Rosatis is across the street from Barnabys and is OK, California Pizza is also close by if you like that kind of stuff. Personally I stick with Lou's but Baranabys is good also for thin crust fans Perhaps I should also mention that Most Dominick food stores in our area have Fresh Made Pizza every Friday, you can get a Large 16 inch Pizza w Cheese & Saus for only $6.00 not the best Pizza but it is good and for $6 bucks will fill your gut Edited by JohnMD 1/10/2006 1:03 PM

| If the show is still in the rosemont (sp?) section of chicago there was an upscale chinese joint within walking distance that was lights out. Great food. ManitouDan | |||

| You're thinking of the Outdoor Expo in Rosemont. The Tri Esox show is pretty far West of there. It's a college -- there's GOT to be some good cheap food around there somewhere! | |||

For a Better quality Dog, Fries Beef Etc try Portillos, Take Roselle Road west to Golf Rd (RT 58) turn left, Portillos is on your right hand side about 1.5 -2 Miles from Roselle. Across the Street is a small strip Mall that has a Cousins Sub place. Another Good Choice would be ZIPPY's, GREAT CHEESY BEEF ON GARLIC BREAD Take Roselle Rd west about 3 Miles, Just Past Higgins (RT 72) on Your right hand side. Turn Right at Golf Rd (RT 58 ) head west about 1 mile and you will find a Taco Bell on the Left side of the street Barnaby's & Rosatis Pizza mentioned earlier has other Menu Items at reasonable prices That about covers the Cheaper places BETTER EATS Red Lobster, Bahama Breeze , Out Back. Take Roselle Road west to Golf Rd (RT 58) turn left, all are on your left hand side about 1.5 -2 Miles from Roselle HOOTERS, East On Algonquin to Mecham, Turn Right Take Mecham to Golf Road (RT 58) turn Left (East) at first light Turn right, Hooters will be on your right hand side TOP EATS Yu’s Mandarin, Take Roselle Road west to Golf Rd (RT 58) turn left, all are on your left hand side about 1.5 -2 Miles from Roselle Directly behind Out Back Wildfire Steaks & Benihana’s (SP) Pricey but really good, Take Roselle Rd west about 3 Miles, to Higgins (RT 72) turn left (East) About 3 miles on your left Edited by JohnMD 1/11/2006 7:33 AM

Posts: 135 Location: Elgin, IL | happy hooker.... so Joe M. is sending you to Portillos? Great place. But he's probably forgetting another really good, and pretty cheap place that's right next to where the Swap is happening. Buona Beef. It's on the same side of the road as Officials Timeout on Higgins. Pretty comparable in menu and price to Portillos. Went there myself before the Swap last year. Great place to load up on starch and grease before initiating intake of barley pop(s). Mark

Posts: 1769 Location: Algonquin, ILL | lots of places I did not even mention I tried to stay within a three - 4 mile radius of the show but if your willing to drive a little further your choices open up greatly in all ranges and types of eats. I will be at the Show Friday Night wearing a MUSKIEFIRST sweatshirt if you see me say hi and I will be happy to help you find some Good Eats, another option for you out of town folks would to to stop at the Fox River Muskies Inc Booth, MOst of the Guys manning the Booth are Local to the area and will help you out as well

Posts: 2865 Location: Brookfield, WI | Reading about Portillos, Buona Beef, Woodfield Mall, etc. just made me realize I kind of know this area. My wife loves Ikea so we've been in this area many times. Portillos is really good for Chicago style sandwiches. If you're hungry try the big beef with cheese and hot Giardenara (sp?). Order it wet. Buona Beef is good, but less so. Red Robin burgers are also good in the mall. If you do go to Ikea to buy cheap bookcases or something like that (wives love it), do yourself a favor and stay away from the Swedish meatballs. Kevin

Posts: 2865 Location: Brookfield, WI | I'm back, because my wife just reminded me of another unique place. Sal Y Carvao, 801 E. Algonquin Rd. This is an all you can eat Brazillian style barbecue. You pay one price and they give you a disk with different colored sides. You sit at your table and guys in Gaucho outfits wander around with GIANT skewers of different kinds of meats. It something like 13 or 15 cuts. There's roasts, chops, sausages, lamb, etc. They give you a couple slices and when you're ready for more, you flip over your disk and they just keep bringing it. Just to warn you, Brazillian style barbecue is salty. There's a term for it that means salt and charcoal. We've done it several times, both there in the suburbs, and downtown at a different place on La Salle. It's great fun, but not cheap, $45 to $50 I think, and this does not include drinks. But if you like to eat 2 or 3 pounds of meat, this is your place. The potatoes and fried plantains are also excellent and there is a gigantic salad bar with all kinds of unusual stuff. Kevin

Posts: 189 Location: Barrington, Il | It's Millrose not Melrose, and it's not as good as it used to be. If you want a great burger go The Assembly on Barrington Road just south of 90. You want to sit at the bar . They have a grill behind the bar where you can watch them cook your burger. Took Mike from Fudally there a couple years ago and its the only place he goes to. Jeff

Posts: 532 Location: Chicago, IL | Ditto on Red Robin in the mall. Also there is a new place for the meat lovers. It's called Texas de Brazil, I went there last week. Pretty pricey but all you can eat skewer style meats. Quite an experience if you have never eaten at a place like that before. But definitely expect to be in a food coma after. It also in the mall next to PF Changs which is another place I dont think was mentioned. Phil C

Posts: 172 | Geez Millsie, just cause you won the spelling B's in 6th, 7th and 8th grade is no reason to rank on the guy!! Besides my Kat can beat your kat up. You and your pet peeves. You know your fishing partner (me) can't spell worth a dam. Another great burger place is Brants. Just take Roselle north until it ends at Northwest Hwy. Take that east for a 1/2 mile.

| muskihntr, you are mistaken. The "after swap" blow out is at the Golden's. I will let them post the directions but, if I remember correctly you take a right at the rock. | |||
