I am curious as to what rod everybody uses in the spring and if they downsize or use the same size lures. Also how small of a lure is small?

A #5 Mepps is about as small as I get in the Spring, I also sometimes "downgrade" to spinning gear when throwing this lighter stuff.

Spring might not be too far off here....I noticed the little gold finches were at the bird feeder this morning. Weird weather this year.

I like to use St. Croix avid 7'10" telescopic rod. It is in the bass line but works great when downsizing your lures. The handle is probaly close to eighteen inches and it is a good stout rod. I use it for rattle traps in the spring for skis and frogs in the summer for bass. Great rod probaly the most versitle in my arsenel. Also a great cat rod

Small cranks like 6" jakes, shallow raiders and cranes are the ticket for me.
