Posts: 2752 Location: Mauston, Wisconsin | What if your day job allowed you to live anywhere in the muskie world you wanted too, where would it be ? I've been seriously thinking of N. WI , N. MN, or W. Ontario. I love Western Ontario. However, I don't think the wife can take the winter seclusion and the 6 hr round trip to the shopping malls. Have fun! Al

Posts: 3479 Location: Elk River, Minnesota | No doubt it would be Baudette, MN. Easy access to Lake of the woods, and a short drive to some other nice honey holes in the Northwest region. Steve

Posts: 906 Location: Warroad, Mn | I've lived in Warroad (36 miles west of Baudette) for 44 years. Married a Warroad girl, who's used to the cold. Only US port on the LOTWs. Not a bad place to start from. I can get to every muskie water in NW Ontario in 5-6 hours or much less. One hour to the NW Angle. It's only cold for six months of the year! Only two hours to Winnipeg or Grand Forks! It's a great place to raise kids, and if you like to hunt, fish, and watch hockey games there's not many better places in North America. Small town with good employment possibilities. Doug Johnson Edited by dougj 12/11/2005 7:43 PM

I will always live in Chicago, but if I happen to win the lottery, I would have homes in these musky locations: Green Bay, WI Tower, MN Montreal, Quebec Nice to dream

Posts: 1080 | My favorite uncle lives in Green Bay, WI. I'd love to move up closer to him and live and fish in the Green Bay area. Good musky, bass and walleye waters up there and close to the great lake there for Salmon fishing as well. That'd keep me in the mix of some good all around fishing. If I hit the lottery...I'd be living out west in the winter, in the Rockies, getting back into downhill skiing. Be a ski instructor or a ski patrol..and definitely get back into competing with downhill, slalom racing and moguls....and of course keep up with free skiing and extreme skiing. Then in the summer months...back to Wisconsin to do the fishing gig...

DougJ, Allways been a big fan of yours, in fact since the article "of Mice and Men" way back when I was maybe 10. Take all your advice into account and share the same mentality as you when it comes to muskies. I live in pretty good muskie country(Ottawa) but that post really got me thinkin about movin out and taking a share of muskie heaven

Posts: 32881 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | I really like where I live right in the heart of Muskie country in Rhinelander WI. I live 5 miles or so out of town and easy driving distance from so many good muskie lakes it's impossible to fish them all in any regular manner. It's a goal of mine to someday own a place in the Dryden Ontario area too, with the idea I'd fish muskies here until July, head there for July through Spetember, and get back here for October through ice up.

Posts: 2024 | I'd probably live in Minneapolis if I could. You got Tonka, all the metro lakes, easy weekend trips to Mille Lacs and the Walker region, and a do-able drive to LOTW. I really liked the feel of Minneapolis-St. Paul when I visited a couple years ago. That being said, it's hard to leave a state that doesn't have a closed season!!!!

Posts: 1430 Location: Eastern Ontario | I'll stay right here, I'm in the Ottawa River in 15 minutes, the Larry in Mtl in 1.5 hours, Larry in Guananoque in under 2 hours and I can even make it to Georgian bay in under 6 hours. Top 3 waters in the worlds within my reach.

Posts: 663 | That's what I did in 2002. There is a bit more to consider in addition to just musky fishing. Hard to think of a better musky location and place to live than St. Germain, Wisconsin (Vilas County).
