| What is different between these lakes besides the states they are in? |

| The main difference between Cave Run and Kinkaid Lakes are the forage. Shad is the predominent forage in both lakes but Kinkaid has more larger Gizzard shad, averaging 6-8 inches in length. At Cave Run, the shad are primarly smaller thread fin that tend to run 5 inches and less. Also, the thermocline in both bodies of water are different in Kinkaid because of its darker color the thermocline sets up at 10-12 feet. In Cave Run the thermocline sets up at 20-24 feet, a big difference. Both are great lakes and provided excellent fishing opportunities.

| The fine gentleman's establishments are closer at Kinkaid then they are at Cave Run.
So I've been told............
Although Cutter's (Cave Run) has a 64oz. steak on the menu. If you eat it all, it is free. I got lock jaw trying.......couldn't do it. |

| It is hard to say much because Gregg did a good job answering the question. One other thing to mention though is that even though both lakes are roughly on the same latitude, Kinkaid lake has to be the harshest environment in the world for muskies during the summer months. Both lakes reach very high water temps, but Kinkaid is even worse. I have seen up to 98 degree surface temps, and this is not a nuclear cooling lake. It just gets hot!! We leave the lake alone from the middle of June to the middle of September for the safety of the muskies. I also agree with Scott Jenkins, there is a little more night time entertainment near Kinkaid!! Not that I have ever seen first hand though, right Scott!![:p] [:p] |
